Astro Weather November 15th-November 22nd 2023 Start of a new Mars cycle, what needs your determination and tenacity for the next 2 years?
This week has the remnants of energy left from the powerful, intense, brutal new moon in Scorpio on Monday. I certainly felt some powerful energy and some conversations and thoughts felt much more intense than even I am used to! And I tend to like intense! I reached out to my older sister which is rare nowadays, but it definitely felt like I needed some support, and as she has her moon in Scorpio the astrological wisdom is that she would be able to deal with intensity better than most.
On Wednesday 15th November there is a Mercury-Venus sextile, this represents an easing of communication in our local community, with the planet of love and beauty and money and all things elegant being in a flowing relationship with the planet of communication and short distance travel and siblings. This is the best aspect during the month and the energy will be felt until the 21st November, so use this energy to think about any positive communication, to help you navigate the rest of this rather challenging month. Thinking and thanking together are powerful. Remember to thank anybody or anything that you are genuinely grateful for.
There’s a Mars-Sun conjunction on Saturday November 18th in scorpio. This conjunction is linked to hot-headedness, but also to heroism, courage and fearless. The sun and mars together make a lot of heat, so eruptions could occur, whether physically or emotionally. A good antidote is to burn this energy constructively. Mars is also linked to sexual energy and when conjunct the Sun it can be brash, bold and sometimes vulgar.
This conjunction represents the start of a new 2 year Mars cycle. This is a great time to write down something that you would like to achieve over the course of the next 2 years. Something that is needing determination and hardship to complete. Because Mars rules Scorpio, and Scorpio is a fixed sign, this 2 year cycle will infuse you with the staying power, determination and dogged capacity to achieve a great deal. You don’t need to make anything up, have a think what in your life requires work, something that you’d like to focus your determined attention to for the next 2 years. Mars in the natal chart can be felt as a fiery, courageous energy, much like the God of War that the Romans named Mars. Allow your Mars to be included in your life in the most positive way possible for a war-like figure! You don’t need to start any wars, maybe you can use your inner fire to set your boundaries appropriately and to get out into nature and feel that visible spirit, (as Schelling would say), to inspire you.

In someone’s natal chart this Mars-Sun conjunction can represent someone who is obsessed with the punishment of others, or it can represent someone who gets punished for their actions. Some famous people with this in their chart are Will Young, David Bowie, Matt Dillon, Anthony Burgess, Danny DeVito, Eva Peron.
The sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd November and this also starts one of the most difficult aspects of the month, the Mars squaring Saturn. This hard aspects generates a variety of dangers, for example the release of new variants during the time of Covid were when Mars was square Saturn. The positive part of this rather dark aspect is that it is in the beginning of the sign of Sagittarius, which tends to be a fairly optimistic sign and the critical point of this conjunction is at the beginning of Sagittarius season, after this the aspect and therefore its effect weakens.
