Tracking the Moon this week
I used to watch the Moon with fascination when I was a kid on long car journeys. It is still fascinating to me after countless years of seeing it up there in the sky, whatever it is or isn’t, whether we’ve landed on it or not, will we ever know for sure? If you are learning about Astrology for the first time, the advice is to track how you feel under the different Moon cycles. We are approaching a new Moon next Tuesday 12th December, so this is the balsamic Moon phase of the month, where we see an ever decreasing crescent Moon in the sky. Have you ever noticed whether the crescent looks like a C or a backwards C when the Moon is in this waning phase, getting ready for a new Moon? If you haven’t I invite you to go and check for yourself.
Wed 6th December , the Moon is in Libra from 5pm. Libra is linked to the legal profession, weighing up options before making a decision as well as beautiful art, music and literature.
Thursday 7th December , the moon is in Libra all day.
My son , who, has a lot of libra energy in his chart, has spent the majority of the day reading , drawing and finished the day with the classic Lion King movie with the well known soundtrack and lovely animation to look at. The story line was quite Libran too, with the scales of justice being swayed one way and then the other, until the final reckoning was made.
I used the Libran energy to plan how to make the house more beautiful, well less messy actually, but more beautiful sounds better! Again Libran energy likes everything to sound pleasant and not at all jarring.
Friday 8th December, the Moon is still in Libra all day. How did you use the Libran energy of the last couple of days? Maybe choosing beautiful Christmas presents?
Saturday 9th December , the Moon moves into Scorpio in the early hours , 3.34am UK time. Scorpio is the natural detective of the zodiac. They also remember when someone has wronged them and this is when the sting in their tail can be used.
Sunday 10th December , the Moon is in Scorpio all day.
The weekend might bring some intense situations to light. Scorpio energy is also passionate and intense , so a good time for connecting with any loves you have. It might mean spending time with a new lover , or a new hobby you’re passionate about. If circumstances don’t allow for either of these, preparation for how to take the next step is key. Are you ready for a new lover? For a new passion in your life? How can you get ready ? You are the only one with the answer to these questions. Allow time for reflection, we’re in the mercury shadow which is great for looking at what needs review, repeating and re-evaluating.
Monday 11th December , the Moon moves into Sagittarius at noon. Sagittarius is the sign of lifelong journeys, foreign places or higher learning. When it is at its most pure it is a fun, carefree and affectionate energy. The symbol of the centaur is the blending of two into an impossible one. So we will all be affected by this energy today and with the new Moon on Tuesday, embrace that part of your vision that doesn’t always have to explain things, ie how a centaur comes from a horse and a man. You don’t always have to explain something for it to be real. Trust yourself during this time and allow yourself the permission to synthesis things together without having to make anything as concrete as a centaur! It might be the blending of 2 ideas , or allowing love and hate to combine. This is the last day before the new Moon, so physical energy is likely to be lacking, thus allowing the dreamy side of yourself permission to do its thing would be wise. Neptune stationed retrograde on Monday 4th and the advice is to wait to make any big decisions until a good few days after this time, reinforcing your permission to drift off into fantasy land, even if only for a few moments.
Tuesday 12th December , there is a new Moon in Sagittarius at 11.31pm. This new Moon is conjunct Mars. All of the new Moons and full Moons for the next few months will have that Mars energy linked to them because Mars and the Sun are travelling close together for the next couple of months.
The new Moon is at 20 degrees Sagittarius so you can look at your chart to see how this is likely to affect you. New Moons are usually linked to manifesting , but this new Moon has a necessity energy about it. You may need to just on with whatever needs doing. So if you do like to write your manifestations down at this point in the lunar cycle make sure you carve out a space for yourself when you can so this.
Mercury retrograde officially starts on Wednesday 13th December , so this can have challenging affects on communication, travel and electronic devices. Double check arrangements and allow for delays is always a good strategy for these retrogrades. Where you born when Mercury was retrograde? And how do you manage. While writing this I thought of my dad and how he was ALWAYS early for everything as he hated being late for whatever reason. And I just checked and he was born on a day when Mercury was retrograde. His whole life (when I knew him), was spent double checking arrangements and allowing for delays! In fact when he had a heart operation, 20 years before he died, his last words to my brother as the anaesthetic took hold where ‘don’t be late for work tomorrow’. The trickster Mercury can make us late and miscommunicate, can we ever out-trick the trickster?
