Astrology for the New Year
Full Moon in Cancer
There was a full moon in Cancer in the early hours today, Wednesday 27th December, (UK time). Cancer the crab has a tough shell, to protect itself. This full moon has Chiron linked to it. Chiron , the ‘wounded healer’, is the centaur that could heal everyone, except himself. This aspect between the moon and Chiron emphasises the importance of vulnerability, importance of leading with a soft heart, knowing that a lot of people will be extra sensitive and will be taking things personally for the next few days. Especially because Mercury and Mars are both squaring Neptune as well. This is a fiery energy regarding communication . The less conscious way would be to react in anger and lash out in judgement.
The more conscious way would be to keep your focus regarding thoughts and words towards your goals and dreams and to speak your truth with compassion. Also try to slow down and be more conscious how you’re aiming your thoughts and words over the next few days.
Mercury in Sagittarius
Mercury and Mars are visible in the sky just before dawn. They are conjunct, so can be seen rising together during December. So remember to look up if you’re up early , or partying until late.
The height of this Mercury-Mars conjunction is tonight, Wednesday 27th December at half past midnight (aka Thursday at 0.30am).
Mercury stations direct on Tuesday 2nd January at 4am UK. This is the end point of the retrograde, where you start to see some resolution with respect to issues linked to ‘mercury stuff’ ie: communication, travel, siblings, local communication , books and information.
Venus into Sagittarius
One of the closest aspects on New Years Eve is Venus (which changes signs from Scorpio to Sagittarius on Friday 29th December), and squares Saturn over the last few days of December until the first few days of January. Venus in Sagittarius is trying to bring people together, while Saturn is the strict grandparent making sure that when you bring people together, maybe for a new years party, that you follow the proper etiquette. Saturn can dampen down Venus, so maybe don’t expect too many fireworks in the romance area on New Years Eve!
Jupiter in Taurus
The most positive aspect of the week is that Jupiter is making its final station in Taurus. This happens at 3am UK time on Sunday 31st December and Jupiter will be travelling direct through the sign of Taurus for 4 months. So this is going to help to stabilise things. Jupiter in Taurus is the ability to keep things steady even when they’re not steady, like the quality of a shock absorber.
Sometimes within days of a station happening you can feel that energy and see an important turning point, usually related to the topics of the house that it’s stationing in your chart.
Jupiter was direct from May 2023 to September 2023, then it went retrograde in September 2023 and it will be going direct again in December 31st. If you think back to May until September to any Taurus like projects that were going well for you, (things linked to stabilising your finances or your love life), then maybe they slowed down or stopped in September, then you will get a chance to get whatever it was going again and making some really good progress over the next 4 months. Try to squeeze as much as you can out of these projects in the new year and the next few months while Jupiter is in Taurus before it moves into Gemini on May 25th-26th.
